Water Damage
« Services
Unfortunately as you may expect, mobile phones are not exactly impermeable to water or any other liquid for that matter. So what happens when liquid gets inside your phone? Well if the liquid is water then when it contacts the electronic board inside it will corrode any metal components within it (like the way Iron rusts on contact with water) this in turn causes short circuits on the board. When you power on the phone after contact, these short circuits can give the effect that the handset has survived its wet encounter; but this may not be the case; When we treat a phone for liquid damage, we remove all the corrosion and thus eliminate all the short circuits; So although your handset may have appeared to be working fine before it was treated, the short circuit that was keeping it alive is now gone, and so the phone may not work after we have treated it.
So what do you do after your handset contacts with liquid.
- The first thing we recommend is DON'T try to power on the handset just to see if it still works, this will fry the board!
- Firstly take off the battery to deny the phone any power
- Send the phone to us, so it can receive the proper liquid damage treatment it requires
